Stage 2: The Display-Only Dilemma
You’ve got that one candle that’s “too pretty to burn.” You keep lifting the lid to smell it and then put it straight back, because it’s special.

Stage 3: The Emotional Attachment Era
Each candle has a memory. The one you lit during an anniversary meal, the one that you bought on holiday that time, the one you’ve been saving for “a special occasion” that still hasn’t come. (Spoiler: it never does.)

Stage 4: The Justification Game
You start giving them “purposes.”
